The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Google’s been testing their “television programming search service” for about a year.
The project is a partnership with Dish Networks. Testing is going on right now and could be discontinued at any time. Here’s the scarce details about the project:
Viewers can search by typing on a keyboard, instead of using a remote control. Google hopes to link the service up with its nascent TV ad-brokering business, allowing it to target ads to individual households based on viewing and TV search data.
Right now it’s early to say if this will ever be a reality but I think Google will hold this close to their toolbelt.
Google TV…. It kind of has a ring to it….
