Microsoft Releases Silverlight For Symbian

Microsoft has officially released Silverlight for the Symbian OS. Symbian is mostly operated on Nokia phones and Silverlight is available in the Ovi store.

Users will now be able to view Silverlight applications on their mobile phones.

Strangely enough, Silverlight applications on the web will not be available on Windows Mobile 7 phones when it launches. No word on whether Silverlight might available on the iPhone and Android phones.

Is this a big deal for Microsoft’s Silverlight? Could Silverlight actually be a better alternative to Flash on mobile devices?

We’ll see when what the first impressions are.
