Click Here! Facebook Is Working On Getting Rid Of Clickbait In Your Newsfeed

I can’t tell you how many times I see ridiculous stories on my newsfeed on my Facebook. Just stupid stories that my “friends” link or share. My newsfeed has basically become spam. Unless I recognise the news source, I’m not clicking on “This Story Is So Inspiration” link.

Well, it looks like Facebook is working on fixing that. Facebook is having its employees analyze “tens of thousands” of headlines to identify common elements of clickbait stories.

They’ve identified certain trends with clickbait and spam news including the “curiosity” stories. Like you may see a story like “You’ll never believe what happened to this women”. That’s classic clickbait.

If Facebook’s algorithm identifies a headline as clickbait, it will limit both the reach of the post and (potentially) the reach of the publisher that posted it.

Hopefully this works and will reduce the amount of clickbait in your newsfeed. I hope it works. There’s way too much spam and nonsensical stories out there and I would love to keep them out of my newsfeed. Maybe I’ll just unfriend everyone and just send it there.
